Marylyn illustrates the fanciful, mysterious, and amusing world of French-Canadian folklore with authentic tales of loup-garous (werewolves), lutins (elves) and more! Told in English and French.

For 23 years, Toronto-based Marylyn Peringer has been telling stories in schools, libraries and community centres throughout Canada. Her wide repertoire includes world folklore of the stars and constellations, riddle tales and classical epic, but she is best known for her bilingual presentation of French-Canadian folktales and legends.

She has toured several provinces through Canadian Parents for French, and has shared her tales with audiences at numerous storytelling and folk festivals across the country. In November 2000, Marylyn represented Storytellers of Canada/Conteurs du Canada during Canadian Children's Book Week, touring Newfoundland. Marylyn also teaches adult storytelling courses through The Storytellers School of Toronto and George Brown College.

A French extravaganza was held by CPF in November for families of French Immersion students from Kindergarten to Grade Two. Children's entertainment, tips & resources for parents, and French book sale.

Parent Information Sessions

Speakers included:

Childrens' Entertainment

While parents were in the auditorium, or browsing the books, kids were entertained by Mary Clements from Petit Pomme French Summer Camp.

French language storytellers Chantale Groulx and Jennifer McNaughton also used a combination of mime and theatre to bring their stories to life.

Children were encouraged to participate in the story by playing small roles, and shouting out phrases in French.

Thanks to all our volunteers for making this evening such a huge success!
